Denver DSilva — ELT Consultant, Curriculum Designer and Cambridge Master Trainer based in Mumbai.

ELT Consultant · Curriculum Designer · Cambridge Master Trainer.

  • Cambridge C2 Proficiency
  • DipTESOL
  • Doctoral Researcher

I have spent over a decade at the intersection of English language teaching, teacher development, and educational technology — most of it at The English Advantage, India's leading Cambridge-authorised exam centre. My work is grounded in real classroom practice — not frameworks borrowed from elsewhere.

I am currently completing doctoral research on peer feedback and writing development, and building Rootwork — an AI-powered CPD tool designed around how teachers actually grow.

What I believe about teaching.

I believe the most important thing a teacher can do is make a learner feel capable. Not just knowledgeable — capable. There is a difference, and most teaching systems are designed around the wrong one.

My practice draws on Jim Scrivener's learning-centred teaching and Scott Thornbury's unplugged approach — both of which put authentic communication ahead of preset materials. I was also shaped by Derrida's ideas about play and différance, which taught me to encourage students to engage with language as something alive, not fixed.

My goal has always been the same: to prepare people not just for exams, but for a lifetime of confident communication. That applies whether I am working with a teacher in a CPD workshop, a student preparing for Cambridge, or a corporate team trying to communicate across cultures.
